Can We Take a Banned Site - No Pages Indexed in Google, Yahoo or Live and Can We Give it Life and PR Rank?

Can we take a banned site - No pages indexed in google, yahoo or live and can we give it life and PR rank?

That is what is being attempted over at www.

omg-1.com and the big question is can it be done?

Google, Yahoo and MSN Live are such big players in providing traffic the question is can a website survive if the big engines have banned it?

Many sites get banned and even some deserve it. Yet there are many sites who receive a penalty or even a banning and they just dont know why. Most just receive a penalty and that means their site is still in the index but just not ranking well. The site owner just needs to seach for his url and if it is found you are not banned. If you cannot even find your url, well simply put “you’re out!”

But don’t fret as there are ways to get back in, but first you have to appologise to the big G and others and file a reinclusion request. But first I would remove the tactics that got you banned in the first place, remove your hidden text and keyword stuffing.

Back to the experiment

A ten point plan has been placed in effect and it involves the basics like good hosting, good SEO in title and description with good keyword density etc. The big news here is the link building! The plan is that numbers of links will force the engines to take note of the banned domain and push it back into the indexes.

Here are the ten steps:

19 September 2007 -

1. http://www.omg-1.com/ taken off domain parking and hosted at dreamhost.com

2. Site built and Sitemap created and uploaded to google webmaster tools

3. http://www.omg-1.com Creation Date: 01-feb-2007 | 0 links in Google, Yahoo or Live. | 0 indexed pages in Google, Yahoo or Live.

4. As you can see no pages are indexed in any of the search engines. It is a banned domain!

5. Reinclusion request made to google.

6. Write a title and description.

TITLE: That is only 10c for a permanent link pointing to your website!

DESCRIPTION: We will hand submit YOUR Website into 2000 FREE DIRECTORIES with multiple anchor text in both the title and the description for $200 US.

7. Add URL Google | Add URL Yahoo | Add URL MSN Live

8. Add some small blended adsense blocks.

9. Place this information into Website Submitter and start submitting.

10. Be patient!

Expectation? We would like to see the site indexed and in all engines by 19 Nov 2007 | December at latest!

Summary

The most interesting point to check back on is the results of the Website Directory Submission Experiment because the number of indexed pages and numbers of backlinks for the site are fully presented on the site and could be a real testimonial for this type of directory marketing.

Another amazing part of this approach is that it can be done free using all the free website directories. You just need to semi-automate the process a little.

Well good luck with your website SEO development

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Video Marketing

Posted in Marketing, Make Money Online, Internet Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Youtube, Video Marketing, Make Money, Market, Internet by on October 27th, 2007No Comments

Video marketing, as we know it is starting to revolutionize the way we view content on the Internet. With video sharing sites such as Yoube, Revver, and Break springing up clone sites daily, it is no wonder that people are looking to view video more than written content.

Who is to blame them really? Video does not take as much concentration and focus when you are viewing it whereas you must concentrate reading text word for word.

Here are five reasons why you should be utilizing online video to drive traffic to your websites, products and affiliate products. There are tons of reasons why to use online video in your marketing and traffic building efforts, but take a look at it from a video sharing site traffic and search engine optimization point of view.

Reason 1. Video sites most likely are viewed as an authority site in Google. Such sites as Youtube, Revver and DailyMotion all sport respective Google page rank of 8, 7, and 7. With as this much importance, it only makes sense to have your videos shown on these sites, giving you a much better shot at a high search engine result.

Reason 2. In the case of Youtube, it is currently ranked on Alexa as the fourth most visited site on the Internet. The traffic alone within Youtube just from its users is enough to change the initial growth period of any website. You can literally have a brand new website getting enormous amounts of traffic just minutes after you upload a video with a link back to your site.

Reason 3. People love the idea of seeing whom they are dealing with. Whether you are a marketer or just a Webmaster, statistics show that video and a more personable appearance can dramatically increase conversions.

Reason 4. With the introduction of Googles Universal Search, the amount of videos being indexed and ranked is climbing at alarming rates. Google is aiming to provide a more comprehensive searching and information viewing experience for its search engine users, and videos with optimized titles are showing up in the free search engine ranking pages more and more each day.

Reason 5. Videos can be submitted to Social Bookmarking and NewSites such as Digg, Netscape, Reddit and Stumbleupon. With the amount of traffic these sites can potentially bring, you could literally turn a fresh website into a cash machine in a matter of days.

These are just a few reasons why video marketing is ripe for the picking. With the introduction of Web 2.0 sites and the rise of blogging and social media, the way people are viewing information online is changing. Pictures and videos are paving the way to how people will interpret websites and the material at which they are searching for.

If your in the Internet marketing or Webmaster monetization business, video is very cheap to come by. You can purchase a web cam, digital recorder and video editing software easily for $300-$400. With the dramatic increase in conversions that video provides this is a very wise decision and can easily fit into most budgets.

What brand is all about?

Though many things are considered to be part of a brand, a brand is essentially the perception of the customers towards a product.

This perception is much more important than the tangible attributes that are commonly associated to a brand, like the name, logo, packaging and things that symbolically represent a product. The perception of the users is responsible for the equity of a brand or a brand value.

How exactly brands help to sell?

According to Davis Aaker, the Vice Chairman of Prophet, creator of the Aaker Model™, and an eminent teacher and writer on branding and marketing, brands have equity because they have high awareness, many loyal customers, and a high reputation for perceived quality. It is a general trend that consumers prefer high-equity brands because they find it easier to interpret what benefits the brand offers, feel more confident of it and get more satisfaction from using it. This brand equity or perception about a product cannot be developed overnight. It takes considerable amount of time and conscious efforts to establish a brand in the consumers’ psyche.

Why it’s a different ball game when it comes to World Wide Web?

Advertising and other marketing efforts are the most widely used mediums for establishing a brand and building brand value. Much like the conventional process of brand building, online business or e-commerce is also heavily dependent on advertising and online marketing campaigns.

Why search engines are so important for online brand building?

As major portion the online buyers depend on the search engine results to find the product or services they are looking for, search engines are undoubtedly the most powerful medium for building a brand in the online business.

According to a recent study, 62% of search engine users look no further than the first page of the search results and 90% of them do not go beyond the first three pages of the search engine result to select a site for making purchase. Moreover, 36% of search engine users believe that the top ranking companies at the search engine result pages are top companies in that respective industry.

How does SEO benefit the online brand building process?

  • Be at the top - It quite evident that if you are looking to build a brand at the World Wide Web, your site must feature at the top result pages of the leading search engine and most likely in the first result page itself. It will not only guarantee increase of traffic to your site but also effectively build your brand image . To get that coveted top ranking at the organic search results of the leading search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN, search engine optimization is the most viable solution you have got.
  • Break the digital divide - A successful SEO campaign will not only improve your search engine ranking but also put you in the same bracket with the best and largest players in your industry. Being at the same platform with biggest names in your industry will surely increase your brand value.
  • Leverage from your ranking - With the top ranking at the leading search engines, it is quite evident that traffic to your site will significantly increase. The best part of this traffic is that most of them are pre-qualified customers and hence major part of these leads will convert in sales. So, with a search engine ranking your customer base will increase rapidly. This increase in the sales will not only give you a financial gain but also build an interest and reputation of your brand thanks to the recent trends of blogs and online reviews and of course word of mouth that spreads like fire in the consumer market.
  • Improve the page rank - With more visitors, greater sales volume, the importance of your site is improved significantly. With this improving reputation at the online world, your site is all set for a top ranking for longer period of time that will result is a sharper increase in the brand value.
  • Be consistent in your SEO objectives - With a consisting ranking at the leading search engine result pages, you create a long lasting and strong influence on the mind of your customers. This will guarantee the brand loyalty of the customers. Therefore, it is important that instead of one time SEO campaign to take a long time program for your SEO initiative that will definitely contribute to your brand equity.
  • Brighten your online image - Online reputation management that is the buzz in the present context can be successfully done with the help of SEO. By providing better ranking of pro brand sites and eventually lowering the ranks of the ‘boycott’ or ‘flame’ sites you can achieve better brand management through SEO.

Algorithms-the Foundation of Search Engine Optimization

Li Ming Wong

In the ninth century Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi, a Persian mathematician, introduced algebrac concepts and Arabic numerals while he was working in Baghdad.

During the time Baghdad was the international center for scientific study. Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi’s process of performing arithmetic with Arabic numerals was called algorism. In the eighteenth century the name evolved into algorithm. Algorithms are a finite set of carefully defined instruction. Algorithms are procedures that are used for accomplishing some task which will end in a defined end-state. Algorithms are used in linguistics, computers, and mathematics.

Many people like to think of algorithms as steps in a well written recipe. Provided you follow each step of the recipe to the letter you will have an edible dinner. As long as you follow each step of the algorithm you will find the proper solution. Simple algorithms can be used to design complex algorithms.

Computers use algorithms as a way to process information. All computer programs are created with algorithms (or series of algorithms) that give the computer a list of instructions to follow. Computers usually read data from an input device when using an algorithm to process information. In order to be successful algorithms need to be carefully defined for a computer to read them. Program designers need to consider every possible scenario that could arise and set up a series of algorithms to resolve the problem. Designers have to be very careful not to change the order of the instructions; computers cannot cope with an algorithm that is in the wrong place. Flow of control refers to how the list of algorithms must start at the top and go all the way to the bottom, following every single step on the way.

Some terms that are used to describe algorithms include natural languages, flowcharts, psudocode, and programming languages. Natural expression algorithms are generally only seen in simple algorithms. Computers generally use programming languages that are intended for expressing algorithms.

There are different ways to classify algorithms. The first is by the specific type of algorithm. Types of algorithms include recursive and interative algorithms, deterministic and non-deterministic algorithms, and approximation algorithms. The second method used to classify algorithms is by their design methodology or their paradigm. Typical paradigm is are divide and conquer, the greedy method, linear programming, dynamic programming, search and enumeration, reduction, and probalictic and heuristic paradigms. Different fields of scientific study have different ways of classifying algorithms, classified to make their field as efficient as possible. Some different types of algorithms different scientific fields use include; search algorithms, merge algorithms, string algorithms, combinatorial algorithms, cryptography, sorting algorithms, numerical algorithms, graph algorithms, computational geometric algorithms, data compression algorithms, and parsing techniques.

Internet search engines use algorithms to aid in search engine optimization. Google’s web crawler’s use a link analysis algorithm to index and rank web pages. In an attempt to prevent webmasters from using underhanded schemes to influence search engine optimization, many internet search engines disclose as little about the algorithms they use in their optimization techniques.

Bump Up your Content for Improved Search Engine Optimization

Posted in Search Engine Optimization, SEO, Optimization, Search Engine, Search, Engine, Optimizatio, Sem, SEO Copywriting by on October 23rd, 2007No Comments

When it comes to search engine optimization, content rules. The search engines scour the web for keyword-rich, relevant content. If you want to reap the marketing benefits of search engine optimization, add more content.

It’s the fastest, simplest way to improve your rankings and search position. Here are 10 ways to add more content to your website.

1. Press releases. Write press releases with the web in mind and post them on your website. Include relevant keywords and watch your rankings soar.

2. Articles. Write quick articles related to your service, product or area of expertise. Post them on an articles page on your website.

3. Online bio. Add or update your existing online biography. Include keywords and keywords phrases to your area of expertise.

4. Newsroom. Add a newsroom to your website. Include keywords in press releases. Add a welcome header and message that includes relevant keywords.

5. FAQs. Do you get a lot of questions about your products and services or how you work? If so, here’s a prime opportunity for you to make the most of q&a. Turn those common questions into an FAQ page.

6. Product / Service Descriptions. Add sales and search appeal to your website with descriptions of your products and services. If you sell products from an online catalog, beef up your product descriptions with keywords. If you’re a service provider, don’t just list your services; provide an optimized description of each.

7. Landing pages. Take your service descriptions to the next level. Create landing pages. This works especially well if you offer specialty services or services to niche markets.

8. Testimonials. Optimize your testimonials for the search engines. If a satisfied client writes, “Your nutrition plan has made my Chihuahua healthier than ever,” bump the testimonial up to, “Your nutrition plan for small dogs has made my Chihuahua healthier than ever.”

9. Customer success stories. Want to get a big boost from your testimonials? Turn them into longer case studies, or customer success stories. Keep them to three or four brief paragraphs.

10. Start blogging. Blogs are excellent for search engine optimization and content building. Plus, they build your credibility. Some of the most popular blog providers are Blogger, Typepad and WordPress.

When adding content to your pages, your goal should be a minimum of 250 words per page, and your keywords and keyword phrases should be mentioned 5 to 6 times per 250 words of text.

10 Truths About Better Google Rankings

Posted in SEO Tips, Search Engine Optimization, SEO, Search Engine Optimisation, Optimization, Search Engine, Search, Engine, Optimizatio, Optimisation by on October 20th, 2007No Comments

1. The Quick solution

First the bad news, unfortunately there are no quick fixes in creating higher rankings in Google.

You have to have a lot of patience in the search engine optimisation game. It will take months for your tiresome efforts to come to fruition.  That’s why it’s important to get things right from the start and plan out your strategy.

2. Keyword Research

Keywords are the most important part of search engine optimisation. You must do your keyword research before starting your website if you can, as this will form the basis of all your search engine optimisation.

There is no point going for broad keywords for example “ website design” as there is too much competition for those keywords and you will find vey difficult if not impossible to reach the top spot in Google. You are much better using long tail niche keywords. They will have a smaller search volume, but it will be easier to obtain top position. People are more likely to find what they are looking for with long tail keywords, for example if someone needs a website they may type into Google “ web design” and visit a few websites. They may then discover they also need hosting and a domain name. They will then do another search for “website design hosting and domain name services” for example, and this may be your niche keyword or key phrase. How do you find keywords that people are searching for? Well a good free tool can be found at SeoBook.com or if you want something more professional you can use wordtracker an excellent service for finding niche keywords. You should try and get at least 10 keyword phrases.

Once you have found your keywords do a search with them on Google. First of all look at how many results there are. If it’s in its millions them maybe your keywords are not that good and would be too competitive. If you can find keywords with results at about 50,000 then you could be onto a winner.

You should also check out your competition. Click on the top result for your keyword in the SERPS (search engine results pages) and check out their pagerank. This will give you a rough idea of what you need to achieve to get top placement. Also you should check to see how many links they have pointing to their website as this will also give you a rough idea of how many links you will need to get to the top position. To do this in the search box type link: then the domain.com and you will get a list of websites that link to that domain but it’s a good idea to do this in the Yahoo search engine as they give a more extensive list of back links.  Google will only show you a percentage of their links, usually of pagerank 3 or higher.

Remember these are only rough estimates as every website is different and less, more relevant links will achieve better results.

3. Optimising Meta title tag

Google sees the title tag as the most important and relevant part of the webpage it retrieves. This is one of the few things you have any control over in Google’s search results. The title tag is the underlined header for your result in the SERPS, it also appears at top of your browser window. Keep this descriptive and readable, but at the same time include your newly found niche keywords. Google will also highlight the keywords in your title that where included in the search query.

4.  Optimising Meta description tag

The description tag is the description of the webpage, which resides under the title tag in the results. Again use your keywords in here, maybe some of the lesser ones you discovered. This is the only other part of the results you have any control over. Google will also highlight the keywords in here that match the search query. Again remember to keep it descriptive and readable.

5. Domain names

If you can, try and include your main keywords in your domain name, as Google will highlight them when they match the search query. This can give your ranking a little boost as this will show that your website is relevant to the search query.

6. The open directory project (DMOZ)

You should always submit your website to DMOZ as it can take an age to get listed in here and Google uses these results in its organic results sometimes.  I recently wrote an article discussing this topic and some people commented on this and said that they haven’t submitted to DMOZ and their

7. The importance of Content

Content is very important. If you have ever changing fresh unique content on your website relating to your topic Google will love you for it and other websites will link to you.  In return this will increase your rankings, but you should really be doing this anyway. A website with no changing content is a dead website. Your content should contain your keywords, but don’t spam your content with your keywords. Use them at the start and end of your webpage and sprinkle them in-between. Also use them in your header text and even bold a few as this shows Google that these words bear more importance.

8. Pagerank the green menace

Why are people so obsessed with that little green bar on the Google tool bar? Well I’m here to tell you that you can stop obsessing about it right now.

The thing about the pagerank bar is it can be at least 3 months out of date as Google only updates it in roughly a 3-month cycle. Only Google knows your true pagerank, which changes all the time. Google regularly spiders your website and scans for new content and links to show the most relevant content in its results. Therefore pagerank is pretty inaccurate.

The only advantage of that green bar that I can see is for exchanging links. You can get a rough idea what a websites ranking is and you can decide whether or not to exchange links.

The other thing people get confused about is that it’s called pagerank not siterank. What I have determined is that your website will get assigned a pagerank figure and then it will be distributed through your indexed pages, for example if your website gets a figure of 5 then your home page may get a pagerank of 3 and your other pages get a 2 or maybe a 1 and so on. If these other pages also have links to them this will increase their own individual pagerank.

9. Linking

Reciprocal links are easier to come by but in the early stages when you don’t have a good pagerank will be more difficult. Once your pagerank increases you can be more selective of the pagerank you exchange with.

One-way links are better than 2 way links but one-way links can be harder to obtain. Why should someone put your link on their website, what’s in it for them? You can do this by writing articles like this one, and submitting it to article websites, social media websites or on your own blog, but remember to include an author’s bio including some links to your website.

Don’t forget about the guys starting out when your green bar starts to increase. If they have a website with good quality content then you should consider linking with them. Remember we all need to start somewhere and page rank of 1 is tomorrow’s pagerank 5. Try and keep your link to relevant websites as Google likes this and you will receive quality traffic from these websites for years to come.

Also I have found a great little tool to check if your potential link partners are linking to bad neighbourhoods, which Google may penalise you for linking to. The address is:

http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm

rankings are fine. This may be true but one thing you should remember is that lots of directory websites use DMOZ results, which in turn will get you more one-way links.

10. Blogging

Blogs are loved by Google as they have lots of text and are constantly getting updated, so start your own blog on your website. Include articles, stories and any thing that’s related to your website. If you give people something of interest they will come back for more and link to you.

That’s all for now, take care and good luck!

And remember you only get out of something what you put in to it.

As a result of which you may lose your potential customer.

3. Avoid use of Frames and Flash

Try to avoid excessive use of frames and flash as they increase load time of the websites.

4. Organize site

Organize sites in a manner so that every page is easily navigated from all the pages of the site. Navigation to the pages should be simple and clear. The Anchor text should be relevant to the link contained underneath.

8. Keep Navigation at the left

Create a Navigation tap and place the navigation links on that section. Keep the navigation links to the vital pages of your website on the left of the web page as search engine robots generally start crawling your website from the top left corner of the website and also it is very much convenient for the web users.

9. Relevant content

Don’t forget that visitors are coming to your website to take some information. And for providing the required information to the visitors, search engines crawls your website. The ultimate main purpose is to provide information to the visitors. So keep your website more informative and post content on the website that is relevant to the site.

11. Avoid Scrolling

Horizontal Scrolling!!!! Users use to hate horizontal scrolling on a web page. It must go now. Vertical Scrolling is OK if it is very much necessary to keep it. But try to make your content or the information on your webpage very concise and snappy. Users should have good feel when they come to your site.

These are just general aspects that one should consider while designing a website or optimizing a website.

5 Valuable Search Engine Optimization Tips

5 Valuable Search Engine Optimization Tips

Search engine optimization is THE most cost effective way for a
company to market their products and services.

Below are 5
extremely valuable search engine optimization tips:

1. Content is Key

Webmasters are extremely concerned with optimizing their code
and as a result, they often forget about optimizing the content.
As optimization tips go, this is one you should pay close
attention to. The first 200 words of your home page should be
loaded with keywords, this includes your headline. Some search
engines, particularly those that ignore meta tags, will actually
use the first few lines of text (including the headline) as your
site description.

2. Utilize Static HTML

You don’t need a “dynamic” website unless you have dynamic
content, such as airline seat availability and pricing which
needs to be dynamically published from a database because it
constantly changes. You may store your website in a database but
you’re better off publishing it as a static HTML website. It’s
cheaper, the pages will download faster, and search engines will
find it easier to comprehensively index your website.

The less HTML code you have, the better, as it makes it easier
and faster for the search engine to index your page. Aim for a
total page weight of 50 KB for any page (that’s including
graphics). Certainly, anything over 100 KB is going to be slow,
and some search engines don’t like pages that are over 100 KB.

3. The Title Tag is Critical

The title tag is the single most important piece of content for
people who search. Keep it short: Don’t have more than 60
characters (with spaces), which is roughly 8-10 words. Lead with
the most important careword for that particular page. Always
start off with what is specific about the page and move to what
is general. Many websites begin their title with their brand or
organization name, and then follow with what is unique about the
page. (This is a very common mistake, so check out your website.)

4. Optimize Your Images

This is another optimization tip that many people forget about.
However, through use of your “alt” image attribute tag, you can
slip in an extra keyword phrase or two that describes the
picture users are about to see. The text only shows up when the
user has turned off the ‘view images’ option in their browser or
the image fails to load. But some search engine robots will pick
it up too and the extra keywords could help your ranking. So
take a few seconds to implement this optimization tip on your
site and you could see improved results soon.

5. Why You Shouldn’t Optimize Your Own Site

While we have given you some basic optimization tips to help you
quickly boost your search engine ranking, we still recommend
that you hire a Search Engine Optimization professional for the
best results. Search engines change their guidelines regularly,
making it impossible for any one or two people to stay on top of
all the changes while still running their business. What was a
great optimization tip yesterday, could get your site
blacklisted today. Your SEO professional will watch over your
site as if it was our own, ensuring your site is always running
in peak form. For example, we predicted many of the guideline
changes Google made in November of 2003, saving many of our
customers from the massive fall in rankings most experienced.

Get your Site Listed Quickly in Search Engines

These ways include submitting the URL, using keywords, using links, and using blogs to get listed quick.

Tip #1: Submit your URL manually to search engines

Search engines like Google, Altavista and Yahoo all have options for you to manually submit your site.

Before submitting, however, it is important to make sure of the following:

1. All pages on your site are complete. Search engine spiders won’t touch incomplete sites.

2. Your site is not full of spam and/or excessive use of keywords. Yet again, spiders won’t touch spam sites, which means your site will be skipped over if it contains lots of spam.

When you submit the site, make sure to submit it only once to each search engine. Submitting multiple times to the same search engine will get you no where. In fact, they might keep your site from ever having a chance at being listed on the search engine.

Tip #2: Use keywords to get spiders to come to your site

Search engine spiders absolutely love sites with good, well-placed and well-used keywords and key phrases. In other newsletters, we have covered the correct use of keywords and key phrases, so you might already be familiar with it. If not, we’ll briefly touch on it right now.

Keywords are words that are used frequently on a site that search engines look for. The key to correct usage of keywords is to make them fit naturally throughout a piece of content and not look like spam. Before writing your content for your site, take a second to decide what the content is about. Then make a list of keywords or key phrases that seem to fit with the topic at hand. Next, write the content and try to sprinkle in the keywords or key phrases throughout the content in a natural, non-distracting way. When you are done writing the content, you should count the number of keywords or key phrases. Then divide that by the total number of words in content. If the number you get is between 1-3%, you’re good to go. If it’s below 1%, try to naturally add in keywords or key phrases. If it’s above 5%, try to take out keywords or key phrases. Aim for the perfect balance of between 1 and 3%.

Tip #3: Use links

Having another site link to you will make spiders that visit the first site come to your site as a result of the link. Many owners of sites related to yours are happy to post a link to your site on their links page. Some might require what is called “reciprocal linking”. This basically means that if they place a link to your site on their page, they want you to return the favor by posting a link to their page on your site. Doing so helps both sites better gain the attention of search engine spiders and helps them both to get listed quickly.

Tip #4: Install a blog on your site

Blogs are extremely popular and quickly listed by search engines. Places like Google are known to index(or list a site/blog) far faster than they list regular web sites. Blogs are listed by search engines like Google within days of being created, whereas it can take weeks and months for search engines to notice a site.

Installing a blog on your site is really easy. All you have to do is install a program such as WordPress on your web site and then use that to make blog postings. If you run a sports site, for instance, you could try making twice a week posts on the blog about sports news. Doing so will help your site as a whole get noticed quicker by search engines.

If you apply just one of the tips above to your web site, you will get listed quicker than expected.

Creating a blog on your web site is quicker than ever before. Do it today and watch how quickly and effortlessly your site gets listed on search engines!
